Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
AIDS is caused by a virus known as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). This virus is what destroys the immune system. HIV can also invade the central nervous system causing sever neurological problems. The Human Immunodeficiency Virus Rapid Test is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of HIV p24 antigen and/or antibodies (IgG, IgM and IgA) to HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 and/or Subtype O in whole blood, serum or plasma. It is intended to be used as a screening test and as an aid in the diagnosis of infection with HIV.
